The Charm of the Nutcracker
Did you know that the beloved Nutcracker has a story that stretches back hundreds of years? Originally handcrafted in Germany in the 17th century, nutcrackers were more than festive decorations, they were symbols of protection and good luck. With their strong jaws and soldier-like stance, they were thought to guard homes and bring cheer during the dark winter months. The tradition became even more popular after the release of The Nutcracker ballet by Tchaikovsky in the 1800s, which brought the little wooden soldier into the spotlight as a Christmas icon.
At How Great Thou Art, we’re bringing this timeless tradition to life with our Nutcracker Painting Workshop.
